Faces to Names – Terms of Use

Faces to Names provides research guidance, tools, educational resources, and community-generated content to help students and the public learn about Canadians who died while serving in the military. The platform hosts profiles, educational materials, and user-generated contributions, as well as classroom-oriented workflows.
By using Faces to Names (FTN) with your class, you confirm that:
1. You have reviewed and accept FTN’s Terms of Use and Privacy Policy.
2. You understand and agree that you are responsible for:
- ensuring use of FTN complies with your school board’s digital-tool/privacy policies
- helping students understand safe online conduct and responsible research practices
- monitoring and approving students’ submissions before they become public
- verifying information “to the best of your ability” using the evidence students provide
- protecting student privacy by ensuring only permitted information is submitted
3. You will not upload or request students to upload:
- personal information of living individuals
- non-compliant images or copyrighted material
- content that violates privacy, safety, or academic integrity
4. You acknowledge that FTN may mark, hide, or remove content if:
- it violates the terms
- it contains sensitive information
- it requires additional verification
- it is inappropriate or harmful
5. You agree that student contributions may:
- become part of the FTN’s public remembrance archive
- be used for educational, historical, or community purposes
- be attributed (or anonymized) based on your class settings
